The good news is that you can have a smooth and successful move regardless of the time of year. Here is everything you need to know about how to move in the Fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Watch the weather<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Since the weather in Chicago can be unpredictable, there might be a chance for precipitation or wind on your moving day<\/a>. Rain, snow, and wind can slow your move down. It\u2019s also a good idea to keep an eye on the forecasted weather<\/a> for your move day. This will help you and your moving company plan for a successful move\u2014even if the weather won\u2019t be ideal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Protect your floors<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of the biggest concerns that clients have when they move<\/a> during the fall is protecting their floors. And you want to protect your hardwood, carpet, and tile floors from water, dirt, and damage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Your move crew will have neoprene floor protectors on their truck. Think of these as a super long yoga mat! If you have a lot of long hallways or a carpeted area that the movers will need to walk across, just contact your moving company before you move day to let them know. Although the weather might warm up during your move day, you probably don\u2019t need those tank tops and flip flops if you\u2019re moving in the Fall. So pack them up into suitcases or rental plastic moving bins<\/a>. The more you pack ahead, the less you\u2019ll have to stress about on move day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For instance, if school is in session, you can anticipate heavy traffic between the rush hours of 7am-9am and 3pm-5pm. And if you live close to a school, your street might have parking restrictions for the moving truck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daylight savings time<\/a> can also present a challenge to your move. If you\u2019re moving in November, be sure to keep an eye on when the time will change. Also keep in mind that if you\u2019re in a low light area, your crew can really struggle navigating dark walkways. So try to book your move in the morning if there\u2019s not much light available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
