Move-tastic! has always supported Chicagoans by helping them settle into their new homes. As a family-owned and operated moving company headquartered in the Avondale neighborhood, we know we wouldn’t be where we are today without our hometown and its residents. To show our appreciation to our community and our customers, we started Move Good, Do Good so we can give back to the city and help keep Chicago such a wonderful place to live.
What is Move Good, Do Good?
Each week, we donate $100 to a local establishment as part of Move Good, Do Good. We support a wide variety of causes, including charities that ensure that families have the essentials they need, nonprofits that support immigrants and refugees, and organizations that help unsheltered pets find loving homes. On top of the check, we give them a shout-out on social media to boost awareness among all of our followers and connections.
Move Good, Do Good is a way for us to put our passion for helping people into action, beyond helping people move. The “help first” mentality is in our DNA. Pete and his best friend started moving furniture to help out friends and neighbors over 20 years ago, and our company grew from his love of lending a hand. Now, we’re doing what we can to help other people flourish.
Although we’ve coordinated employee volunteer events and park cleanups for years, Move Good, Do Good helps us spread the love even further across Chicagoland. We started this initiative in January 2026, and we have no plans to slow down. Here’s a look at the organizations we’ve worked with over the past few months.
Meet the Charities Behind Move Good, Do Good
Move-tastic! supports a huge range of organizations that do so much for our community. If there’s a charity that you’d like to nominate, please contact us.
July 2026
We kicked off July’s Move Good, Do Good initiative with the Mercy Home for Boys & Girls, which offers mentoring, residential programs, and community care programs that help children build brighter futures. Next up was Legal Aid Chicago, whose team provides civil legal aid to vulnerable and underprivileged Chicagoans.
After that, we visited Special Children’s Charities (an organization that helps people with intellectual and developmental disabilities thrive) and Deborah’s Place (a 40-year-old institution that offers housing and opportunities to women). We rounded out the month with the Chicago Public Library Foundation because we love books, education, and Chicago landmarks.
August 2026
August’s first Move Good, Do Good donation went to Gilda’s Club Chicago. This organization complements medical care with diverse programming for the community. Then we headed downtown to Uniting Voices, which has spent the past 70 years empowering and unifying our future leaders with music.
In the second half of the month, we worked with Fresh Supply, which focuses on justice-centered projects and curriculum in emerging communities. Friends of Kilbourn Park was our final Move Good, Do Good recipient of the month. This one was particularly special to us since it’s right in our neighborhood!
September 2026
The first Move Good, Do Good stop in September was The Waste Shed in Edgewater. This place repurposes reusable art and school materials to support local teachers and artists. Next, it was off to Monarch Thrift Shop to support their initiative to create workforce development opportunities and prevent gently used clothing from ending up in a landfill.
Our next stop was the American Legion Tattler Post #973 at Western and Montrose. This place has been supporting Veterans since 1946. We rounded out September with a donation to the Erie Neighborhood House, which supports immigrant and low-income families in Chicago.
October 2026
October started with an organization close to our facility and dear to our hearts: the Portage Theater Foundation. Their team is dedicated to rebuilding the century-old Portage Theater. October’s second Move Good, Do Good donation went to Mujeres Latinas en Acción, where Latinas can find support and empowerment. Then, we worked with El Valor, which offers early childhood education, adult programs, and community engagement for people with disabilities.
Anyone who has used our eco-friendly moving supplies knows that we’re dedicated to sustainability. EcoShip, which combats waste and promotes sustainable shipping practices, was a natural choice. We were thrilled to offer October’s final donation to The Night Ministry, which is currently in its 50th year of providing housing support, healthcare, and more to Chicago’s unhoused or poverty-stricken residents.
