Mount Greenwood is a community area on Chicago’s southwest side. Settled by German and Dutch farmers in the mid-1800s, it was not incorporated into the City of Chicago until 1927. The Citizens of Mount Greenwood voted for annexation at that time in order to receive infrastructure improvements, but the Great Depression prevented these from arriving until the Works Progress Administration installed sewers in 1936.
